Vegetative Morphology

Habit: Trees to 7 m.

Leaves: Leaves with very fine anastomosing venation, with pubescence of simple hairs.

Reproductive Morphology

Fruit: Fruit apocarpous, with up to 10 stipate carpels per fruit, to 1 cm long, black when mature.

Infructescence: Infructescence axillary and ramiflorous.

Seeds: One seed per carpel with ruminate endosperm. The carpels and seeds similar to Guatteria and Oxandra.
