Vegetative Morphology

Habit: Trees to 30 m or shrubs.

Leaves: Leaves opposite, variable in size.

Exudate: Latex white, abundant.

Reproductive Morphology

Fruit: Fruit a follicle, in pairs, to 4 cm long, green, brown, or red externally when mature, the inner walls pinkish-red, and in some species the epicarp is equinoso.

Seeds: Various seeds per fruit, covered almost completely by an orange aril.
