Morphological Description

Diagnosis: Saprophytic herbs with two known species in the Neotropics, often growing in small, clustered populations of various individuals. Stems white, without clorophyll. Inflorescence a spike with loosely or tightly packed sessile flowers. Flowers with purplish, tubular perianth and white ovary. Infructescence a spike with sessile fruit. Fruit capsular, brown when mature. Seeds tiny, many per fruit. Distribution: Known from limited collections from Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, Peru, and Venezuela.
