Locality Description: Cultivated plant growing at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Sarasota, Florida (SEL Accession number: 1974-2842-WA). Origin: ?
Botanical Data
Plant Notes: Stems horizontal and slightly scandent. Calyx truncate and spreading in fruit; uniformly red. Fruit a white berry with reddish trichomes (more or less pointy; not globose or flattened). Corolla bilabiate; mostly red; ventrally orange. Incorrectly determined at SEL as C. nicaraguensis. "It kind of reminds me of C. querceti mixed with C. linearis" (R. Kriebel, Email Comm. 2008). Leaf material collected for molecular systematic studies. Photographs of this collection are in the Gesneriaceae photo file (US).
