Locality Description: Collected from the Greenhouse of Bob and Dee Stewart (Stow, MA). Stewart accession no. 11279. Obtained by Stewart's from Michael J. Kartuz (Kartuz Greenhouses, Sunset Island Exotics, Vista,CA) in January, 1979.
Botanical Data
Plant Notes: Stems pendent and herbaceous. Fruit a white berry. Calyx lobes red. Presumbly collected in the wild by Leon Glicenstein at a location "not far from" the Hope Seed Farm in Linda Vista, Cartago, Costa Rica in 1979 (Cf., The Gloxinian 30(4): 25-27. 1980). Photographs of this collection are in the Gesneriaceae photo file (US). Leaf material collected for molecular systematic studies.
Local Name: This clone has been given the cultivar name 'Purple Robe'
