Plant Notes: Terrestrial herb with erect stems. Abaxial leaf surface red. Adaxial leaf surface variegated. Calyx red; actinomorphic. Corolla red and urceolate. Wild origin: Ecuador, Province of Morona-Santiago, Collected outside city limits of General Leonidas Plaza Gutiérrez (=Limón). Collected from wild in May 1994 by Richard W. Dunn. Photographs of this collection are in the Gesneriaceae photo file (US). Leaf material collected for molecular systematic studies.
