Habitat Description: Old growth, lowland tropical to subtropical moist forest, upper terrace, flat terrain.

Soil Description: Poor soil, moist, sandy-loam with some clay content.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Tree with abundant male flowers, from the trail causing it to appear as if covered in a gold-orange colour. Buds are a light green and there is a tannish pubescence on the inflorescence branches. Flowers#4; buds#3. Flowers at anthesis are a brilliant gold-orange to yellow colour. Adaxial leaf surface a glabrous dark green, while abaxial surface is a lighter green covered in a ferruginous pubescence. Very hard whitish bark, with small fissures, that exudes a caramel-coloured resin when cut.
