(version 1.5)
The Collections tab includes a Collection List with all collections that satisfy the selection criteria provided by the browsing options or other searching facilities. The Collection List has many features to control the information displayed and the uses to which it can be put once the needed subset is listed.
Collection List: The Collection List provides the primary method of viewing basic data about many collections pertaining to any given collector, geopolitical location or botanical parameters. The data includes the collector, collection number and collection date, the family, genus, species and infra-specific identification for the collection, and the country, region, project, habit and habitat for the collection. The number of images tied to the collection is also provided.
Click on "Details" at the front of the collection row or the collection number to view all of the data for an individual collection. See Chapter III-12, Collection Detail Display for the complete listing of the data included for one collection. Click the collector's name in the Collection List to see the information for the collector.
Click on the underlined column heading to sort the Collection List by collector's name, collection number, family, genus or specific epithet. Click once for ascending order and a second time for descending order. Sorting by family also sorts the Collection List by genus and species within family. The sort order is retained if the view is changed to one of the checklist views, the collections are exported or printed, or if you move to the Images tab of the Collection/Specimen display.
Above the Collection List are filter fields that allow you to reduce the Collection List by selecting specific values for one or more of the data fields, such as collector, family, genus, species, country etc. See Chapter II-10, Reducing The Collection List Using Filters for information about how the filters work.
Above and below the Collection List are controls for moving through the “pages” of the Collection List or for presenting all the collections on one page. The "(List All)" is only available when the Collections tab is at a family, genus and species level and not at the higher taxon levels. Paging only goes into effect when the number of collections exceeds the number of items to show per page specified in your Preferences. In the example below the lines per page is set to six, so 21 collections require the display to have four pages. If the "(List All)" control is clicked, all 21 collections appear on one page.
A "Show Pages" control is provided to return to a paged presentation if all collections are listed.
Below the Collection List are additional options which are displayed based upon your permission levels. The "Export List" option creates a file with comma separated values (CSV) which can be imported into Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet programs. The "Export KML" option creates a file that can be used to display the data points using Google Earth. The third option is to print specimen labels for the Collection List. Finally, the last option allows you to add the selected collections to a personal workspace within Atrium.
One or more collections can be selected to be added to a workspace. Each collection has a check box at the left by which it can be selected, or the "Select all records." check box can be used to select all collections on all pages. After the needed collections are selected, choose a workspace from the drop-down list and click the "Save to Workspace" button. The collections selected are added to the workspace.
