Bark thick, brown, fissured, exuding a red gum. Immature fruit brown, the shell woody, very hard, the outside with sticky sap; immature nuts golden-brown, the meat white, tender and with a good, light taste, said to be preferred to the mature nuts but difficult to obtain; seed embedded in hard yellow flesh.
