Chapter VIII-3. Preferences

If you have an user id, settings from one session are held over to the next. These include: one or two taxa levels on the Summary tab, showing empty taxa on the Summary tab, the number of collections per page on the Collections tab, and showing image previews on the Images tab. This panel also provides links to allow you to change your account information, change your password and change your secret question.

Click "Change my password." to change your password.

Click "Change user information." to change your personal information. This will help the administrator keep in touch with you about Atrium.

Click "Change secret question." to change your secret question and/or the answer. This question and answer can be used to reset your password if you forget your password to the application.

Click "Change admin preferences." to change administration preferences. If you are not authorized to use administration features, this option does not appear on the panel.

Click "Click here to show 1 (or 2) level of taxa while browsing." to toggle the display levels between one and two. This is the same as the control on the Summary tab of the Collection/Specimen display. Changing it in either place changes it at the other.

To change the number of collections per page on the Collections tab and the Images tab of the Collection/Specimen display, type the number you want in the data entry field. Click "Submit" and the new limit takes effect. The following message is displayed at the top of the Preferences panel:

To change whether the empty taxa are shown on the Summary tab of the Collection/Specimen display, click the check box ON or OFF. Click "Submit". This is the same as the "Hide/Show empty taxa" on that tab. The following message is displayed at the top of the Preferences panel:

To change whether image previews are shown on the Images tab of the Collection/Specimen display, click the check box ON or OFF. Click "Submit". The following message is displayed at the top of the Preferences panel:

  1. Type your current password.

  2. Type the new password you want.

  3. Type the new password again.

  4. Click "Save Changes" to change your password, or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel without changing the password.

If you are successful in changing your password, the following message is displayed at the top of the Preferences panel when you return.

If you do not enter your current password correctly, the following message is displayed:

The values are cleared from the panel, and you can try again. Or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel.

If you do not type the new password the same both times, the following message is displayed:

The values are cleared from the panel, and you can try again. Or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel.

If you do not enter a new password, the following message is displayed:

The values are cleared from the panel, and you can try again. Or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel.

  1. Type any changes needed to your information.

  2. Click "Save Changes" to save the modifications, or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel without changing your information.

If you are successful in changing your information, the following message is displayed at the top of the Preferences panel when you return.

If you try to remove your email address, which is required, the following message is displayed:

Enter your email address and click "Save Changes". Or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel.

  1. Type a new question if desired.

  2. Type your answer to the question. Pay attention to capitalization and spaces, as it must be entered exactly the same if you are trying to reset your password.

  3. Click "Save Changes" to save the modifications, or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel without changing your secret question and its answer.

If you are successful in changing your secret question and answer, the following message is displayed at the top of the Preferences panel when you return.

If you do not provide a secret question or an answer, and click "Save Changes", the following message is displayed:

Enter your secret question and the answer and click "Save Changes", or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel.

  1. Change the settings as desired.

  2. Click "Save Changes" to save the modifications, or click "Cancel" to return to the Preferences panel without changing the settings.

The following message is displayed at the top of the Preferences panel when you return.
