Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Trees to 20 m, often growing in disturbed areas.
Leaves: Leaves alternate, spiral, grouped in the extremities of the branches.
Exudate: Latex white, abundant.
Reproductive Morphology
Fruit: Fruit a follicle, in pairs, to 35 cm long, dark brown when mature.
Seeds: Numerous winged seeds per fruit, completely surrounded by a wing the same color as the seed.
Other
Uses: Reported to have medicinal properties and the wood is harvested for lumber.
Distribution: Guianas, Brazil, Bolivia to Peru.
