Fruit: Fruit syncarpous, the carpels fused, sometimes apiculate, to 7 cm diameter, yellow when mature.

Seeds: Numerous seeds per fruit surrounded by a fleshy, edible, sometimes aromatic mesocarp.

Uses: Cultivated for edible fruits.

Distribution: Mexico to Bolivia.
