Flowers: Flowers showy; calyx subactinomorphic, 4-5-lobed, the lobes linear to ovate; corolla funnelform or sometimes sacciform, the tube generally constricted towards the base and expanded to campanulate towards the apex, the lobes obtuse; fertile stamens 4.
Fruit: Fruits oblong, bivalved capsules to 2 cm long, brown at maturity.
Seeds: Numerous seeds per fruit, somewhat flattened, remaining attached to the funiculus.
