Morphological Description
Diagnosis: Terrestrial or scandent herb to about 1.5 m. Latex white. Leaves simple, alternate, lanceolate, to about 10 cm long; margins serrate with black tips on each serration. Inflorescence of solitary flowers on elongated pedicels in in leaf axils. Flowers: corolla tubular of various tones of orange to pink or fuchsia subtended by green sepals; anthers and filaments fused into a column surrounding the style and stigma, exerted from the corolla; anthers soft pubescent. Fruits berries to about 10 cm long, blue to purple, subtended by persistent calyx and bracts when mature.
