Morphological Description

Diagnosis: Plants medium-sized, to ca. 15 mm tall. Leaves flaccid, 4-5.5 x 0.5-0.75 mm, acute to obtuse-apiculate, vaginant laminae ± equal; margins often serrulate above, entire below, limbate on all laminae with limbidia confluent at leaf apex, 3-4 stratose; costa subpercurrent to percurrent; cells quadrate to hexagonal, 20-40 x 14-19 µm, smooth.

Distribution: Mexico; Central America; Caribbean, Western and Northern South America, Brazil

Ecology: Along waterways in lowlands to lower montane forest, 10-2800 m, on flooded soil or rocks submerged in streams.
