Leaves: disticas, axilar buds like spines, petioles very short, 3 - 4 mm long; blades subcoriaceous, 10.7 - 17.2 cm long, 3.8 - 6.5 cm wide, elliptic, rarely elliptic ovate, conspicuosly apiculate, acumen 0.6 - 1.7 cm long, acute to obtuse at the base
