Morphological Description
Diagnosis: Herb to about 80 cm. Inflorescence a terminal spike. Flowers large, showy, white, 5-lobed.
Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Herb to ca. 1 m tall.
Leaves: Leaves simple, opposite; petioles thick, to ca. 2 cm long; lamina elliptic, to ca. 8 x 22 cm, drying light green, the base acute to decurrent, the apex acuminate, the margins crenulate to entire.
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Inflorescence a terminal spike.
Flowers: Flowers large, showy; calyx actinomorphic, the lobes linear, green; corolla subactinomorphic, funnelform, to 4-5 cm long, 5-lobed, white.
Fruit: Fruit a bivalved capsule to 1.5 cm long.
Seeds: Seeds numerous per fruit.
