Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Small tree to 5 m tall.
Main axis: Bark strong, fibrous.
Branch: Stem light brown to brown, smooth when dry.
Leaves: Leaves simple, alternate; the petioles canaliculate, swollen below, to ca. 1 cm long, brown to black when dry, glabrous; the lamina narrlowly elliptic, to ca. 6.5 x 27 cm, light brown when dry, chartaceous to thin coriaceous, glabrous, the base acute, decurrent, the apex short-acuminate, the margins entire; the midvein slightly raised above, the secondary venation eucamptodromous to brochidodromous, the tertiary veins only slightly conspicuous;
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Inflorescence axillary.
Flowers: Flowers 1-several per inflorescence; the pedicel articulated; subtending bracts 2; sepals small, valvate; petals imbricate or valvate, glabrous.
Fruit: Fruit apocarpous consisting of many, fleshy monocarps; the monocarps ellipsoid to ellipsoid-oblong, to ca. 2 cm long, purple-black when mature, smooth, white to tan pubescent at base and on stipe when young.
Seeds: Seeds one per monocarp.
