Habit: Caespitose epiphytes and terrestrials. Pseudobulbs (in epiphytes) or corms (in terrestrials) present.
Leaves: Leaves linear, clustered toward pseudobulb apex or basal.
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Inflorescences terminal pedunculate racemes or panicles, the panicles often formed by sequentially produced branches over long periods of time, the floral bracts inconspicuous.
Flowers: Flowers showy. Sepals and petals subsimilar, subequal, free, spreading. Lip unlobed or three-lobed, tubular with a spurred base, the callus of several basal keels. Column stout, slightly arching, without wings, with a conspicuous foot, the anther beaked, often with an ornamented apex; pollinia 2, sessile or attached by a common linear stipe to a very broad, transverse viscidium.
