Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Tree to ca. 12 m tall.
Main axis: Bark strong, fibrous.
Branch: Stems slender, black when dry, smooth.
Leaves: Leaves simple, alternate; the petioles weakly canaliculate, slender, swollen at base, to ca. 4 mm long, black when mature, glabrous; the lamina elliptic to weakly oblong-elliptic, to ca. 4 x 13 cm, chartaceous to thin coriaceous, glabrous, the base acute to decurrent on petiole, the apex short-acuminate, the acumen to 1.5 cm long, the margins entire; the secondary venation brochidodromous, fine, strongly reticulate with tertiary venation.
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Inflorescence solitary, ramiflorous or axillary.
Flowers: Flower one per inflorescence on long peduncle; not seen in the study region.
Fruit: Fruit apocarpous consisting of a few monocarps; the monocarps ellipsoid, to ca. 2 cm long, red when mature, smooth, glabrous, sessile to short-stipitate when mature.
Seeds: Seeds one per monocarp.

Uses: Young trunks used as canes and fishing poles.
