Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Small tree to ca. 5 m tall.
Main axis: Bark strong, fibrous.
Branch: Stems slender, light brown to black when dry, smooth, glabrous.
Leaves: Leaves simple, alternate, nearly sessile; the petioles terete, stout, short, to ca. 3 mm long, black when mature, smooth, glabrous; the lamina elliptic to oblong or obovate, to ca. 5 x 15 cm, green to olive-green when dry, chartaceous, glabrous, the base acute to decurrent on short petiole, the apex short-acuminate, the margins entire; the secondary venation eucamptodromous to weakly brochidodromous, the tertiary venation conspicuous, fine, tightly reticulate.
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Inflorescence terminal.
Flowers: Flowers 1 per inflorescence, long-pedicillate, the pedicel to 2.5 cm long.
Fruit: Fruit apocarpous consisting of numerous monocarps; the monocarps ellipsoid, to ca. 1.5 cm long, purple-black when mature, smooth, impressed along one side when dry, glabrous, stipitate at the base, the stipe to ca. 1 cm long, the apex rounded.
Seeds: Seeds one per monocarp.

Notes: Easily confused with species of Cremastosperma but can be differentiated by the long-stipitate terminal inflorescence or infructescence.
