Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Small trees to 4 m tall.
Leaves: Leaves elliptic to lanceolate, to 20 x 9 cm, brown to dark brown when dry, chartaceous to coriaceous, glabrous; base acute to rounded; apex acute to acuminate; margins entire, revolute; secondary venation brochidodromous, same color as lamina, inconspicuous adaxially, raised abaxially.
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Inflorescence axillary or ramiflorous, 2-4-fasciculate, reduced or elongate, racemose cymes; pistillate inflorescences often reduced to short fascicles.
Flowers: Flowers unisexual, actinomorphic, 4-merous; the calyx and corolla lobes ovate, to 0.5 cm long. Fruit and seeds unknown.

Notes: Rare in mixed to open palm swamp forest. Rarely collected from northwestern Colombia and Loreto and now Madre de Dios, Peru.
