Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Small or large tree to 20 m tall.
Main axis: Bark strong, fibrous.
Branch: Stems slender, brown to black when mature, wrinkled.
Leaves: Leaves simple, alternate, nearly sessile; the petioles subterete, stout, to 2 mm long, black when mature, smooth, glabrous; the lamina elliptic, to ca. 6 x 15 cm, gray-green to olive-green when dry, chartaceous, glabrous, the base acute to rounded, the apex short to long-acuminate, the acumen to 1.5 cm long, the margins entire; the secondary venation weakly brochidodromous, finely, tightly reticulate with the tertiary venation.
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Inflorescence solitary, ramiflorous or axillary.
Flowers: Flowers 1 per inflorescence; not seen in study region.
Fruit: Fruit apocarpous consisting of one to few monocarps; the monocarps ellipsoid, to ca. 2.5 cm long, red when mature, smooth, pubescent.
Seeds: Seeds one per monocarp.
