Diagnosis: This species can be recognized by: long, narrowly lanceolate leaves that are thin in texture; leaf margins that are entire or lightly spinose on the lower half; thin, elongated spicate inflorescence with bright red bracts scattered along rachis below flowers; sessile, light purple to bluish flowers with exerted, elongate stigma and staments.
