Locality Description: Smithsonian Botany Greenhouse acc.2001-134. Source: cutting received from Robert & Diane Stewart, Stow, MA (=Stewart no.RES 12402). Obtained by Stewart's from R.W.Dunn (Largo, FL) in Sept.1994 (Dunn 92-03-129).

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Stems subwoody; erect at base, then becoming horizontal to erect. Leaves succulent (but, not as succulent as N. flumenensis); abaxial surface green with red tinge. Calyx purple. Corolla dark purple; apically pouched on upper surface; resupinate. Wild origin: unknown, but probably Brazil. Leaf material collected for molecular systematic studies.
