Amblyopinode amazonicus, n. sp., a parasite of Oryzomys spp. from Pakitza, Peru, is described. The species is related with the piceus group based on the sclerotized movable piece and differs from it in lacking claviform setae in sternum VI; it also is distinguishable from A. major in the reduced number of teeth on the ventral margin of parameres.
