Habitat

Habitat Description: Upper Amazonian lowland terrain on raised floodplain and uplands between the Camanti and San Lorenzo Rivers. Characterized by vast swamp forests cut by black water streams flowing to the Camanti River.

Habitat Summary: Upper Amazonian forest and swamps

Soil Description: Sandy clay with surface layer of organic matter. Some areas of seasonal inundation with rocky, sandier soils.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Bamboo grass growing to 10 m tall. Inflorescence terminal. Bracts green with white mottling. Anthers purple, filaments white. Dominant bamboo in this are of the Camanti River watershed. All or most populations flowering at time of this collection.
