A thecamoebinid assemblage composed of eight species assigned to five genera is described from Lake Cocococha, Peru. Difflugia corona Wallich is reassigned to the genus Cucurbitella Penard, based on the recovery of specimens with test walls composed entirely of idiosomes. Differing patterns exhibited by the organic matrix in difflugian species are described and evaluated.
